The Junior Business & Data Analyst helps sustain KPI visibility across the plant(s), supports project tracking and communication, assists with dashboard/report automation, and improves data integrity so teams can measure, manage, and improve.

Key Responsibilities

Data Integrity, Tracking, and Governance:

  • Maintain data clarity, cleanup, and tracking across plant systems and reporting tools (ERP/MES/QMS exports, spreadsheets, dashboards).
  • Validate data quality (missing fields, incorrect codes, duplicates), correct issues, and coordinate fixes with process owners.
  • Maintain KPI definitions, data dictionaries, and documentation so reporting is consistent across departments and sites.
  • Own “single source of truth” files/tables for CI reporting (version control, refresh routines, change logs).

KPI Reporting & Dashboards:
  • Build, refresh, and maintain recurring CI/Operations KPI reporting (daily/weekly/monthly).
  • Assist with Power BI dashboards (data refresh, uploads, troubleshooting, measures support) and publish-ready visuals.
  • Create performance summaries for tier meetings and leadership reviews (variance, trends, key drivers, action focus).
  • Develop standard report templates that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.

Analysis & Continuous Improvement Support
  • Perform analysis to identify drivers of performance (scrap/waste, downtime, speed loss, labor efficiency, schedule attainment, OTIF).
  • Create Pareto charts, trend views, and stratified analysis (by shift, line/press, product family, customer, material).
  • Support root-cause work by preparing data sets for problem solving (A3s, 5-Why, fishbone, DMAIC).
  • Track CI project impact and savings (baseline vs improved), including assumptions and validation methods.

Automation & Systems Support
  • Assist with automation tools for reporting and data movement (Power Query, Power Automate, scheduled refresh routines).
  • Support data uploads and transformations required for dashboards and standardized reporting.
  • Identify repetitive reporting tasks and recommend/implement improvements with oversight.

Project Coordination & Communication
  • Maintain project trackers, timelines, action logs, and status updates for CI and business integration initiatives.
  • Prepare meeting materials, follow-ups, and progress updates for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Help train users on new processes/data entry standards and ensure adoption with documented SOPs.

Typical Deliverables
  • Daily/weekly KPI scorecards and tier meeting visuals
  • Waste/downtime Pareto and “top drivers” summaries
  • Project tracker with milestone status, risks, and next actions
  • Standard work documentation for reports, dashboards, and data entry processes
  • Baseline vs actual improvement impact tracking for CI initiatives

Required Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of experience (internships/co-ops acceptable) in analytics, operations, finance, engineering, or CI support.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, charting; comfortable with large datasets).
  • Entry-level understanding of databases and schema concepts (tables, keys, joins).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail (data accuracy is non-negotiable).
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both production-floor and office stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Power BI experience (model basics, DAX measures, publishing/sharing).
  • SQL basics (SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY).
  • Power Query and/or Power Automate experience.
  • Basic scripting in Python or R for automation/analysis.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and familiarity with operational KPIs.

Core Competencies & Values Fit
  • Excellence: takes pride in clean data, clear logic, and polished deliverables
  • Punctuality: meets reporting deadlines and keeps stakeholders informed
  • Consistency: standardizes processes and prevents “one-off” reporting chaos
  • Accuracy: validates inputs/outputs and documents assumptions
  • People: collaborative, respectful, and service-oriented across departments

Performance Measures (First 90–180 Days)
  • CI reporting is accurate, on-time, and trusted by stakeholders
  • Reduced manual reporting effort through templates/automation
  • Documented KPI definitions and report SOPs adopted and used
  • Meaningful insights delivered that drive action (waste, downtime, speed, schedule adherence)
  • CI project tracking is current, clear, and reliable for leadership reviews

Work Environment
  • Mix of office and manufacturing floor engagement to validate data against reality
  • Multi-department collaboration; occasional support around shift schedules as needed
